Okay, okay, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I first decided to make these "mozzarella sticks." I mean, how could they possibly taste good and be guilt-free at the same time? But to my surprise, they turned out to be amazing! With only 30 calories per stick, it's a win-win situation. And on top of that, they are packed with fiber, potassium, and calcium. It's like a healthy snack dream come true. And the best part? You can dip them in your favorite marinara sauce, just like regular mozzarella sticks. The secret ingredient is hearts of palm, which act as the "mozzarella" and the taste is absolutely phenomenal. Trust me, you won't even miss the real thing.
Ingredients:
- 1 can of hearts of palm
- 1 cup of plain bread crumbs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions:
1. Start by draining the hearts of palm and patting them dry with a paper towel. Cut the hearts of palm into sticks, about the size of mozzarella sticks.
2. In a shallow dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, oregano, garlic powder, and salt.
3. In another shallow dish, add the milk
4. Take one heart of palm stick and dip it into the milk, followed by the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure it is well coated with the breadcrumb mixture.
5. Repeat this process with the rest of the heart of palm sticks.
6. Turn you air fryer to 400F and fry for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
